South African bowlers have been in impeccable form during the powerplay in the ICC World Cup 2023 which is being held in India.
The Proteas bowlers have now taken 16 wickets in overs 1-10 in the mega event, which is the most as no other side has managed to go into double digits.
Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Gerald Coetzee, Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi are the ones leading the Proteas bowling attack and they have performed like a unit in the mega event.
Jansen, with 12 scalps to his name, is one of the leading wicket takers while the next Proteas bowler in the list is Coetzee with 11 wickets in just five innings. Rabada is another South African pacer with 10 wickets.
The complete bowling attack has helped Temba Bavuma's side register big wins in the tournament. Africa defeated Sri Lanka by 122 runs, Australia by 134 runs, England by 229 runs and Bangladesh by 149 runs.
South Africa are currently playing Pakistan in the 26th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on Friday.
By the time this story was filed, Pakistan were batting at 198-5 in 36 overs with Saud Shakeel (36*) and Shadab Khan (27*) still on the crease.
It must be noted that the Pakistan cricket team is on thin ice after losing three consecutive matches and a loss in today's match can end their hopes of playing the semi-final of the mega event. Meanwhile, South Africa are in a strong position with four wins in five games.
Earlier, Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bat in their World Cup match against in-form South Africa.
